Re: Conical sanding disk usefulness
The conical disk offers a level of precision that allows grinding metal surfaces. Not just jointer knives - but here's an example; I bought some standard aluminum bar stock which I wanted to precision grind to fit in the miter slot. I just set up the conical disk with sandpaper, then started slowly ...

Re: Spring Purchase
Lift Assist, Miter set, premium casters... all excellent. If there's one tool I use regularly even with the Powerpro it is the speed reducer - for forstner bits and other work. I spent a fair amount of time getting the mortising system to work properly and I have to say it's marginal. The length of ...

Re: Scroll saw variable speed foot switch?
SS sells a momentary (on-off) foot switch for the scroll saw. I was wondering if anyone had adapted a variable speed foot switch to work with the SS scroll saw replacing the variable speed power box on the saw? I did a search but found nothing... any thoughts? I am not sure why you would want to do...

Re: Can a 12" Planer w/o feed motor be converted to manual feed?
Some spectacularly good information here (thanks Everett) on parts for the feed motors. Has anyone done any research on whether there are any complete motors out there new? I'm sure if they are they are pricey but if we have a motor that will work we might find a cheap clone somewhere too. All I kno...

Re: Cold Garage Floor
I would be concerned with any interior treatment, with damp and moisture and cracking of the concrete below. However, if you're going to do it, you might want to consider this: if you have enough headroom, install a 2x6 frame and insulate and cover that. The advantages are huge - you can run dust co...

Re: Cutting plexiglass on SS
I have cut a lot of plexi just with the table saw. It cuts it well, although you want to watch for vibration. A heavier piece of wood along the side of the piece you are saving is a good idea, just to keep it flat. I just used my regular Forrest Woodworker II blade.

Re: Shopsmith T-bolts
It's some kind of pressure fitting - under very high pressure the threaded rod is deformed to lock to the t-bar. I've never had one slip.

Re: Shopsmith Files
I added a link to the 'Newowner' post that takes one to the FB files retained by Tucsonguy. That collection will be very useful down the road. I do hope it will continue to be available/maintained. Unless disk space or bandwidth becomes a problem :) You never know what will happen down the road. As...
