Re: Miter Set

Thanks for the help. I will probably get one. As I am getting ready to make some more segmented bowls and having trouble with the shopsmith sled and a digital sliding scale. The angles never seem to turn out close enough. Thanks again. Larry

Miter Set

I am looking at purchasing a Miter Set to cut segments. I have read some of the comments in the forum and am concerned with astatement by Shopsmith that you have to loosen the center screw on the miter bar to adjust the play in the slot. How does this adjustment affect the accuracy of the Miter Set?...

Re: Joint Matic table ideas photos

Thanks for the response. Your angle plate looks like it works well. I may build mine out of wood too. I was thinking of using aluminum. What are the measurements of the top plate? I think I have figured out he measurements of the bottom plate. I mounted my joint matic much in the same way as you did...

Re: Hexagon Box

The box will be about 3 inches deep 6 inches wide. I expect to use oak. I have sent a message to the person in Richmond about his joint matic. Still waiting for a response. Thanks Again

Joint-Matic

I have a joint-matic and have used it for numerous boxes for finger joints and dove tail joints. I do not have the angle attachment and would like to try some angled joints. Does any one have that for sale or possible some pictures with measurements so I could make one. Any help would be appreciated...

Re: Hexagon Box

I haven't tried yet but I think I could set my miter gauge at 30 degrees on the joint matic and I should be able to a pretty accurate cut. I will also try cutting at 90 degrees to see what it produces. I appreciate the responses. A hex box with finger or dado joints would look nice. Larry

Re: Hexagon Box

The urn is beautiful. I hope I can build something that nice. Looks like hose clamps will work. I have done some segmented turning and they seem to work pretty well. I will probably use one on the bottom and one on the top. I wont have any problem with strength if I can get box joints at the proper ...

Re: Hexagon Box

The box will be about 12 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep out of 3/4 oak. I liked the box pictured I may look into it. I haven't been able to find an angle plate for the joint matic. There is a man in Kansas that has the plate but wants to sell it with his shopsmith. I will probably have to make one. ...

Hexagon Box

I am in the process of building some hexagon boxes and would like some advice. I am aware that end grain joints do not glue well and planning on using my joint-matic. Do the ends need to be cut at 30 degrees? I thought I could cut the ends longer then sand the off to get a good fit. I also have to f...
