Hard Wood Flooring

I got a pretty good deal on some solid oak hardwood flooring. I am using it for segmented bowels. It seems to be harder than other oak boards I have used. Is there any difference in the type of oak wood's they make flooring out of as opposed to other oak boards used in woodworking. Any help would be...

Re: Biscuit Cutter

Excellent idea going thru the split. I missed that. I have milled hole in the top aligning everything from the top. I did not have to mill the slot. I probably should have posted my idea first. Again more eyes on a problem. I used mine today for end and side cuts and it works well. Thanks for the in...

Biscuit Cutter

I purchased a used Biscuit Cutter and am in the process of using it. I found the pins that allows the face to slide back and forth would protrude past the face of the sand paper. I also found you have to take the unit apart to install or take the unit off the quill. I machined a 1/4 inch slot in the...

Re: Miter Gage

Here is my solution to my problem. I took a Harbor freight 4 inch clamp and cut off the foot attaching the clamp shaft to a piece of angle iron and attached the angel iron to the fence on my Shopsmith sled. This allow the clamp to clear the blade by 3/8 of an inch keeping my finger away from the bla...

Re: Sled??

I have a Shopsmith sliding table and have used it to cut the segments but still had the same problem. I will probably build the fence pictured and add some type of hold down that will allow me to hold the last couple of segments close to the blade. I appreciate the help. As always more eyes are bett...

Re: Lathe Tool Steel

I am still looking at which gouge to get. I think the m-4 steel would be an excellent tool but am concerned I might screw it up trying to keep the fingernail grind. I have a set of cheap ones I am learning to sharpen and the 5-piece shopsmith set. the shopsmith set is better with a longer lasting ed...

Re: Double tilt

Thanks guys I now have a basic idea of what I would to do if I decide I need a double tilt. I had not thought of the height problem. Different thoughts always. Thanks again. Larry
