Ad says: "Older machine with tablesaw, lathe, drill, jointer, jigsaw attachments", though I don't see the jointer or jigsaw in the pictures.

Looks in very good shape, I see a speed changer and table extension, both nice to have accessories. :) , it doesn't have the 4E jointer head rest, so they probably mean the jointer cutter that mounts on the spindle and is used in conjunction with the jointer/shaper fence. http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=2705.

This is a good deal. :D

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available' - Planer, Jigsaw, 500, & 510

Post by br549 »

I found 4 ads that all look to be a bargain. I contacted the seller about the planer only, and he replied that all of the equipment he has listed is still available.

520 with PP headstock. Includes jointer and maybe a bandsaw. Asking $2k, but says he's willing to take an offer.

From the ad:

"Selling my trusty ShopSmith! I am "thinning out" this year. If you do not know much about a ShopSmith, this machine is really multiple woodworking machines in one. Really a great option when budgeting your shop/garage space while giving you the capability to perform many different woodworking task.

The headstock (unstoppable motor with electronic push button commands) was upgraded to the PowerPro Headstock a few years ago, which is the Mark 7 ShopSmith headstock. This upgrade alone is worth over $2000.00. I think it is impossible to strain that new motor when passing wood. This ShopSmith has been lightly used for small home projects and well maintained. This has the original single (not the upgraded double) tilt chassis.

Among other accessories I have: a joiner attachment, drill press, table saw, band saw, upgraded caster wheels, table (miter and fence), lathe, sander, dado blade kit, table extension legs and extra table sections and more. I have ALL of the documentation from the original purchase and for all accessories. ShopSmith provides replacement parts, upgrades and add-ons all the time and has great support.

Asking $2000.00, but make an offer. Cash or you must wait until your check clears before taking possession. First come first serve. A new ShopSmith will cost you at least $4279.00! Why do that to your budget when I am selling way more than a basic machine? Will deliver in Albuquerque for free.

Please do not try to adjust agreed price down. I am a straight shooter and expect that of you. I can give you a orientation, but there are many YouTube videos as well.

Call or text. If I do not answer right away I will very soon. Please do not call after 9:00 PM. I am an early riser.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my ad."
I contacted him a few hours after he posted that. He is representing it as a Mark 7, but it is only a single tilt upgrade. It looks like a good machine, and he said so, but he is not a SSer. I may keep an eye on it. :)

This ad was updated seven days ago so don't know for sure that it is still available. Nothing listed for accessories but at $65 it would make a great shorty.

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available' - DC3300 $99

Post by br549 »

Same seller also has an aluminum table bandsaw, a jointer, and a cast iron table bandsaw in separate listings, all also listed for $99 each.

UPDATE 7/24/18: While DC3300 and jointer apparently sold, 2 bandsaws still listed. Price for aluminum table model is now $125, and fence is NOT included with it.

Hi

If there are any members who live on Oahu, Hawaii, there is a Mark 7 available for $2200. While I'm on Oahu at this time, I cannot afford to ship it to Rochester, NY

Heads Up: 510 ("motor not working"), with 4 SPTs $600

North of Houston area. Bandsaw is not pictured, but I contacted seller who confirmed bandsaw is included and sent this picture.

4 SPTs included are planer, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander. All look like in need of TLC. Maybe an extra table and carriage (possibly 500 version?) and other goodies in boxes.

Seller couldn't say what was wrong with motor ... I'm trying to pry more info out of him (or her)

Knowing how infrequently planers come up, that is what caught my eye. 12" planer Mark V mounted, with older style height adjustment handle and possibly rubber infeed roller, with separate feed motor.

UPDATE: Seller answered with this additional info: "The motor was under power but spindle was not turning, then as you move speed control it would turn but if you move it back to higher speed it would overload and stop".
