PowerPro belt allignment

Post by Tom735 »

I have almost finished installing my new PowerPro but I can't seem to change the alignment of the motor pulley with the center of the Poly- V Pulley on the Idler Shaft using the instructions on page E-3 of the instruction manual.
The S/S Customer Service department is of no help!!
I've ask 3 times and have had no response.

Can anyone hep?

Hi Tom, Maybe the idler shaft needs to be adjusted a small amount to the left or right. I've found the double bearing can shift a small amount in the eccentric.

That's what I'd try.

Thank You Chuck, I'll try adjusting the idler as you suggested.
Your idea seems feasible.

I'm curious on what you find.to I was not able to get mine to align like the dvd showed with two ridges on each side. I just got it all the way to the right and it is pretty straight. I have been using it this way because I need to do some work hope it is not hurting the unit.

Should not hurt anything in the short run. The stretching of the belts' edge would tell if it is too far right. in the long run (like a couple of years) too far to the right might be putting excess stress on the idler bearings.

This belt adjustment is not as easy as prescribed - unless you're lucky ;)

Hi,
Thanks for your response; While I had used the video during the whole process I did,as a result of your post, review the video and found one area I had overlooked- it helped.
Thank you.

I understand your dilemma.
the video shows moving the belt with your thumb; I found it was easier to slide a flat piece of mental over the top of the belt and , using this technique, I was able to pretty well able to balance the belt on the idler shaft.

Using the flat mental piece I was able to get it very close to "two ridges" on both sides.
