Shopsmith Adventures - HomeShopMachinist

Post by jerryjankura »

Hi, Folks:

I'm not sure how much you're into modifying your ShopSmiths, but the May/June issue of "The Home Shop Machinist" has the first of several parts of "Shopsmith Adventures - Converting a Shopsmith to cut metal." The current issue describes the modifications that were made; upcoming issues will go into the details of how to make those modifications.

Among other items, he's added an enlarged spindle, speed reducer, and drill sharpener. It should be an interesting series for those of us who like our ShopSmiths.

Aside to Nick Engler. - Shopsmith might want to purchase the HSM issues of this series, as an idea of the kinds of things that might help boost sales.

Hi, Folks:

The July-August issue of HSM with the second part of the ShopSmith adventure found its way into the mailbox today. Topics covered are the tools that the writer deems necessary to make all of the modifications and three relatively simple modifications to the machine - extending the legs to get more height, Adding a large access panel to the headstock, and building a plexiglas or acrylic shield around the speed control dial.
